A Lincoln man was arrested Sunday night after residents of a Lincoln neighborhood reported he was threatening to kill everyone with a rifle, police said.

Officers were called to the 3600 block of X Street at about 9:30 p.m. and located 29-year-old Jonathan Gouty, a news release said, and he briefly fled on foot. He was arrested and officers found the rifle he had been carrying at a nearby residence. The rifle had been reported stolen from a vehicle in October 2017 in Lincoln, police said.

"One victim observed Gouty loading ammunition into a rifle while verbalizing these threats. The victims further indicated Gouty then left walking down the nearby bike path with the rifle," Capt. Jake Dilsaver said in the release.

Gouty was arrested for terroristic threats, use of a firearm to commit a felony, possession of a stolen firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm due to a previous conviction.
