Lincoln police looking for man who made off with $27K watch

  • 0

Lincoln police are investigating the theft of a watch valued at more than $25,000 from a jewelry store at SouthPointe Pavilions.

At 8:24 p.m. Monday, police received a report of the theft from Sartor Hamann Jewelers, 2900 Pine Lake Road, Capt. David Beggs said.

A man asked to see the watch -- an 18-karat-gold Rolex Ladies President with diamond dial valued at $27,500 -- saying a friend had received a large cash settlement and he could put down money on the watch, Beggs said.

When the store clerk removed the watch from a display case, the man grabbed it and ran, Beggs said.

The man -- described as black, age 35 to 45, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-7, 130 to 150 pounds, with a beard and brown eyes and wearing glasses, a black suit jacket and blue jeans -- got into a gray van with a red license plate and fled west on Pine Lake Road.

Police ask that anyone with information about the theft contact Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
