Lincoln man arrested after he sicced pit bull on officers, police say

A 19-year-old Lincoln man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly fought with Lincoln police officers and sicced his pit bull on officers who were trying to find a 13-year-old runaway.

John Thompson III was arrested on suspicion of two counts of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and one count of assault using a bodily fluid, police said Monday.

Police officers came to his home at 3720 N.W. Ebony Court in northwest Lincoln for potentially harboring a runaway 13-year-old girl, Officer Angela Sands said.

Thompson got into a fight with officers about entering the home and when they tried to detain him, he punched officers in the head multiple times, then opened the door and called for his pit bull to attack, according to Sands.

The pit bull bit one of the officers in the buttocks and then Thompson spit a mixture of blood and saliva on one of the officers, Sands said. Thompson also bit one of the officers on the knee, breaking the officer's skin.

The young girl was returned to her home.
