Try 3 months for $3

A 21-year-old college student was scammed out of $3,000 in a fraud perpetrated by a man she met online, a Lincoln police spokeswoman said Monday.

The woman met a man calling himself Frank on Seeking Arrangement, a site that pairs older men or women (known as sugar daddies or mommies) with younger people (so-called sugar babies), Officer Angela Sands said.

"Frank" offered to put $3,000 in her bank account, but when she checked, the woman found he deposited $4,500, Sands said.

He asked her to reimburse him through eBay gift cards for the difference, but she didn’t know how to do that.

Then Frank threatened to report her to the Department of Defense.

Only after she sent him $3,000 via PayPal did she discover the check he had deposited into her account was fraudulent.
