Joshua Keadle has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in connection with the disappearance and presumed death of a 19-year-old Peru State College student who vanished in 2010.

Keadle, 36, had been set for arraignment July 2, but Thursday, his attorney filed his written plea, waiving his appearance.

He hasn't yet been given a trial date.

Keadle told investigators he left her alive on the banks of the Missouri River after they had an argument.
