A Lincoln man was arrested after leading Nebraska State Patrol troopers on a pursuit through Waverly neighborhoods Tuesday morning, a State Patrol spokesman said.

Jacob Eilers, 29, was arrested for an outstanding warrant, flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, no vehicle registration, and numerous traffic violations.

At 6:45 a.m., callers notified the State Patrol about a 2008 Saab 9-3 traveling east on Interstate 80 at more than 100 mph and passing vehicles on the shoulder. Minutes later, a trooper observed the same vehicle going 93 mph as it entered Waverly on U.S. 6, which has a posted speed limit of 45 mph, Cody Thomas said in a news release.

The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled. A pursuit extended through Waverly neighborhoods until the Saab was forced to stop because of other traffic on the road and was pinned in by the trooper’s vehicle.

Eilers was taken to the Lancaster County jail.
