An infant died at a Lincoln day care Tuesday afternoon after caregivers and rescuers performed CPR on the child for an hour.

Lincoln Police and Lincoln Fire and Rescue were called to the day care in the 6900 block of South 52nd Street at 3:18 p.m, according to a news release from LPD.

The infant was transported to a local hospital, but was pronounced dead at 4:18 p.m.

The preliminary assessment doesn't show signs of foul play, but the death will be investigated, which is standard protocol, LPD said.

An autopsy has been requested by the Lancaster County Attorney's Office. The identity of the infant has not been released.
