Crash investigators have blamed slippery road conditions for a two-vehicle crash Sunday that killed a husband and wife northeast of Murray, Cass County Sheriff William Brueggemann said in a news release.

Just before 10:30 a.m., a gold 1999 Ford Taurus, driven by Douglas Erhart of Murdock, was heading south on U.S. 75, lost control because of weather conditions, crossed the center line near Nebraska 1 and hit a 2017 GMC Terrain Denali, driven by Karla A. Manzel, 66, of Bellevue, the sheriff said.

Erhart, 62, and his wife, Donna Erhart, 67, died at the scene.

Manzel and her passenger, Elizabeth Schroeder, 69, of McLean, Virginia, were taken to Nebraska Medicine in Omaha and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, the release said.

Seat belts were in use.
