With Americans spending more time at home than ever before, it's even more important to help ensure you are prepared in the event of a home fire.

A garage fire at Superior Place Apartments caused $50,000 damage Thursday afternoon, according to Lincoln Fire and Rescue.

Capt. Nancy Crist said shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday firefighters were called to the complex at 15th and Superior streets on smoke coming from a garage.

She said they quickly broke into the garage and one next to it and put out the fire.

A motorcycle in one of the garages was undamaged.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Crist said.
