A 32-year-old Fairbury man drowned Sunday afternoon while swimming at the Fairbury Dam.
According to a press release, at around 4:20 p.m. Sunday Jefferson County Dispatch received a report that a man who was swimming at the dam had gone underwater and not come up. The Fairbury Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Fairbury Rural Fire, Fairbury City Fire, Jefferson County Ambulance and Jefferson County Emergency Management responded to the scene.
An investigation of the area was conducted with help from the Hebron Volunteer Fire Department Dive Team. After a search of the area, the body of Christopher L. Troxel was found under the dam's power house.
The cause of death is considered a drowning.
Troxel's body was transported from the scene by Gerdes Meyer Funeral Home after his family had been notified.
