A former Lincoln police officer made his first court appearance Wednesday on a procuring charge for allegedly buying alcohol for his 19-year-old girlfriend.
Scott Bierle, an LPD officer for four years, pleaded not guilty. He hasn't yet been set for trial.
Bierle, 26, resigned Jan. 29, three weeks after Lancaster County sheriff's investigators cited him with the misdemeanor.
After getting information from other officers, Lincoln Police Chief Jeff Bliemeister contacted Sheriff Terry Wagner on Dec. 21 to ask if his office would conduct an investigation into the possibility that an LPD officer had provided alcohol to a minor.
Last month, Wagner said investigators learned off-duty officers had gathered at a local bar Dec. 16 and, during that gathering, Bierle allegedly bought alcohol for the teenager.
The woman was ticketed for minor in possession of alcohol.
Bierle had been with the Lincoln Police Department since graduating from the training academy in December 2015. He was an officer on the department's Center Team.
