Lincoln police on Tuesday identified the man killed in a construction accident as 28-year-old Cameron McThenia of Lincoln.

McThenia died Monday morning after being pinned beneath a large steel grate in a lot near 70th Street and Arbor Road.

He was an equipment operator at Lincoln-based T.N.T. Earth Moving, an Occupational Safety and Health Administration spokeswoman said Tuesday.

McThenia was operating a rock grizzly, a large steel piece of equipment that separates rock and was attached to the elevated bucket of a Caterpillar vehicle, Lincoln police spokeswoman Officer Angela Sands said.

He exited the front end loader to talk to a co-worker and the grate, believed to weigh more than six tons, fell on him, the OSHA spokeswoman said.

OSHA investigators will look into the accident.
