The boyfriend of a woman shot in the head in her northwest Lincoln home in September has pleaded no contest to first-degree assault.
Rashaun C. Jones will face up to 50 years in prison at his sentencing next month.
Jones had been set for trial this week until he entered the plea Friday in a deal with prosecutors, who dismissed a gun charge.
Police say Jones was the only other adult there when Davonnis Wilkinson was shot sometime before midnight Sept. 9 in their northwest Lincoln town house.

Investigators believe Jones shot her during an argument.
Jones told police he wasn't there when it happened but was walking to the town house and on the phone with Wilkinson in the minutes before discovering her shot in a downstairs bathroom.
In the affidavit for probable cause to arrest him, police said phone records do not confirm his story and instead put him at the house at least 30 minutes before he called 911.
Investigators also said they found a Glock 36 .45-caliber handgun, the gun they believe that was used in the shooting, in a nearby sewer drain gutter, and ammunition that matches rounds inside it in a search of the home.
