A Lincoln woman who embezzled $136,000 from her former employer was sentenced Wednesday to five years of probation.
Ariel Rivera, 28, had pleaded guilty to felony theft by deception.
Police said the investigation began when Roy Christensen of Christensen Audiology & Hearing Aid Center found discrepancies in financial records and bank statements, including checks written on the business account to Rivera, Christensen's daughter.
She was working as the office manager and chief financial officer.
Police said the checks totaled $136,797.67.
In December, a judge entered a civil judgment against her in that amount.
