BikeLNK unveiled its rental bikes last month at 19 kiosks and docks around downtown and on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campuses.

Lincoln’s bike rental program will formally launch Friday with a rolling celebration through downtown.

The party starts at 4 p.m. at the Lincoln Community Foundation Gardens, with speeches by BikeLNK sponsors and supporters. Then it moves as a group bike ride down the N Street bike lane and to the Railyard, for free pizza from Mellow Mushroom, informational booths and entertainment.

BikeLNK’s bikes started hitting the streets early last week, and recorded more than 315 rides during its soft launch. A 30-minute trip costs $3, but monthly and annual passes are also available. For more information, go to bikelnk.bcycle.com.
