A server has been fired from a southwest Lincoln restaurant and ticketed for theft after the owner discovered she added $10 to customers' tips shortly after being hired, a police spokesman said Friday.

The owner at Fox Bar and Grill at 1245 Libra Drive discovered the 24-year-old server took $264.03 in the scheme by adding a 1 to the tips between Dec. 1 and Dec. 5, Officer Luke Bonkiewicz said.

The woman was hired Nov. 29, and investigators believe the theft began on her first solo shift, Bonkiewicz said.

She altered 25 credit card receipts, he said.

The Journal Star is not identifying the woman because it does not generally name people who have been accused of misdemeanors.
