Lincoln police arrested a former Husker football player Tuesday on suspicion of stealing electronics in a burglary in January, officials said.

Police suspect that Rickey Thenarse, 26, broke into a home on the 500 block of Fletcher Avenue Jan. 14, Lincoln Police Capt. Don Scheinost said. He is also a suspect in a burglary that occurred Jan. 24.

The victim reported a computer and several DVDs stolen, and police found signs of forced entry through a door.

Officers traced fingerprints and inspected pawned items before developing Thenarse as a suspect around the first week of February, Scheinost said.

Thenarse was arrested at the courthouse Tuesday morning. He remained in jail Tuesday night.

This is the second burglary police have arrested Thenarse in connection with.

He has been charged with the Jan. 24 burglary of an apartment in the 300 block of West Charleston Street.

A woman living at an apartment there called 911 early that morning, saying there was somebody inside her apartment and that she was hiding, police said.

Officers saw a man running from the apartment when they arrived and later arrested Thenarse.

Thenarse played safety for Nebraska from 2006 to 2010. He played in three preseason games as a member of the NFL Seattle Seahawks in 2011.
