Northeast High School, 2635 N. 63rd St.

A fight between students Thursday afternoon at Lincoln Northeast High School sent one to the hospital after a punch to the head was followed by a seizure.

Lincoln Police said Thursday evening that it was unknown if the punch was the cause of the seizure, and that they were unaware of the extent of the student's injury.

Northeast Principal Keri Applebee confirmed that an altercation took place at about 4 p.m. between several students. Staff intervened and quickly handled the situation, she said, but LPD and Lincoln Fire and Rescue were called to the scene.

Police continue to investigate the incident.

"There will be appropriate consequences for those involved," Applebee said.

That was one of several incidents at Northeast that prompted administrators to send e-mails to parents and describe it as a difficult week at the school.

On Monday, administrators found "inappropriate and threatening graffiti" on one of the bathroom walls. On Wednesday, there were two incidents: an altercation between several students and the report of a suspicious person outside the school.

School officials had begun lockout procedures because of the latter incident, but then stopped before it went into affect because the school resource officer contacted the person and determined there was no threat.
