A 65-year-old man crashed his SUV into a tree in southwest Lincoln late Monday suffered a life-threatening medical episode before the accident, police said.

The man was driving west on Van Dorn Street when he crashed into a tree on the north side of 17th Street, near Fire Station No. 8, shortly before 11:30 p.m., Officer Angela Sands said.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews determined the man suffered a medical episode before the crash and took him to the hospital, Sands said.
