A 41-year-old Lincoln man suffered a critical head injury Tuesday night after he was thrown from a golf cart in an accident west of Lincoln, Chief Lancaster County Sheriff's Deputy Todd Duncan said.

Tony Young was riding on the back of a golf cart driven by Chad Vandeventer, 51, at Vandeventer's home in the 6900 block of West Remington Drive at about 10 p.m. when the cart tipped over as it turned, Duncan said.

Deputies found Young unconscious in the grass on the front yard, he said.

The cart had been moved, so deputies weren't sure what Young hit his head on.

Young was taken to a Lincoln hospital, where he was in critical-but-stable condition Wednesday.

Investigators believe alcohol factored in to the accident, Duncan said.

No tickets have been issued as deputies continue to investigate.
