Candlelight Vigil for Shooting Victim, 9.11.18

Friends and family gather at Oak Lake Park on Tuesday for a candlelight vigil for Davonnis Wilkinson, the mother of five who was shot in the head inside her north Lincoln home on Sunday. Wilkinson remains in critical condition.

Family and friends have launched an online fundraiser to help Davonnis Wilkinson following a shooting earlier this week that has her fighting for her life.

The 25-year-old mother of five remained in a local hospital in critical condition Thursday.

She was shot in the head in her northwest Lincoln town house overnight Sunday.

Police investigating the shooting have not publicly accused anyone of pulling the trigger.

Wilkinson, Rashaun Jones and three of their five children were in the town house near Third and Fairfield streets during the shooting, according to police.

"We are looking into all possibilities," Officer Angela Sands said.

Police ask anyone with information on the shooting or events preceding it to call 402-441-6000 or Crimestoppers 402-475-3600.

Jones, 27, remained in jail Thursday.

Police say that during their investigation after the shooting they learned he punched Wilkinson in the face earlier that night. Later searches of the home turned up 2.5 ounces of marijuana, digital scales and suspected drug money, Sands said.

Prosecutors charged Jones with third-degree domestic assault and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
