A Lincoln resident was cited Monday for vandalism, trespassing and failure to comply after reportedly attempting to break into parked vehicles.

A call came in to Lincoln police just before 4 p.m., with a complaint that someone was checking car doors near the 400 block of South 40th Street. Upon arrival, police had a brief foot chase with Brendan Pretenpol, 23.

He was quickly apprehended. Once in custody, officers reportedly got word that the same individual allegedly kicked in the front door of a nearby house earlier in the day. Police say that Pretenpol also entered the residence, prompting trespassing charges.

Pretenpol was logged in jail on previous warrants, cited and released.
