Cats, games, prizes and food -- is there a better way to welcome warmer weather and the change of season? As much as the cats at The Cat House enjoy watching the signs of spring from their window seats, our volunteers and supporters are excited because we know Catsino is just around the corner!

Catsino is one of TCH’s primary fundraisers, and is a fun way to support the cats and enjoy an evening of gambling games, bingo, a silent auction, raffle and refreshments. Guests can enjoy various games including blackjack, roulette, craps and bingo. Poker chips are earned by winning at the various games and can be cashed in for raffle tickets, or you can purchase raffle tickets at the event.

Join TCH at Catsino on Saturday, April 27, at The Center for People in Need, 3901 N. 27th St. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with gambling from 7 to 9 p.m. The entry fee of $25 includes “money” for gambling, plus hors d'oeuvres, desserts and non-alcoholic drinks. Prizes will include jewelry, gift cards and an iPad, so you won't want to miss the raffle at the end of the night!

Spring cleaning time is here as well, and if you're finding that the pet beds and cat toys at your house need a little updating, TCH can help. Visit the shelter during open hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., or on Sundays between 1:30 and 4 p.m., and check out the retail area.

You can purchase TCH's world-famous catnip sticks, pet beds and a variety of other pet-themed items in the lower level reception area. Small catnip sticks are $3 each or two for $5, and the larger kick-sticks are $8 each. Pet beds, which are available in two sizes, and carrier liners are all handmade from high-quality fleece.

All proceeds support the cats at The Cat House and allow it to continue to care for homeless cats and kittens in the Lincoln area.

Go to thecathouse.org for more details about the cats and the programs TCH provides in the community. Don’t forget to “Like” TCH on Facebook and follow it on Instagram! TCH volunteers are always posting pictures of new adoptable cats and kittens, updates on recent adoptions, and fun cat facts and pictures to brighten your day! To receive updates directly to your inbox, send an email to info@thecathouse.org and ask to be added to the mailing list.

The Cat House is a 501(c)(3) organization; contributions may be tax-deductible. TCH is funded by donations and adoption fees and is staffed by volunteers.
