Love this time of year. Temperatures cooling. Leaves turning. It is a great time of year to play a little golf.

(And also watch a little football.)

Depending on how much you love your Huskers, it might just be the best time of year to schedule a Saturday tee time.

“Husker game days (especially home games) are great for coming out and enjoying a beautiful golf course with almost no one on it,” said Woodland Hills pro Tom Erlandson. “The first couple years living here, my favorite statement in the fall was: ‘Don't you people have radios? It's going to be winter in a few weeks.’ Of course that was my inner Minnesotan showing. Now, after 17 years – I get it.”

It’s autumn, the beautiful season. Get out and play.

• It’s also a good time of year to play cheap golf. Most courses offer great fall rates.

• I’m a big fan of the Jim Ager Course (pictured) and how it promotes youth golf, but it is a course for all ages and it is always pretty this time of year. Visit lincolncitygolf.org for more information.

• I love that Pius X golf coach Steph Kolbas organized a trip to the Solheim Cup for her girls’ team. Very cool. Way to go, Bolts and Team USA.
