One year ago, craft beers were added to the Sip Nebraska Festival, which was traditionally a wine-tasting event at Mahoney State Park.

This year, spirits distilled by Brickway Brewery Distillery of Omaha, Cooper’s Chase of West Point and Cut Spike of La Vista, Nebraska, were new at the May 11-12 event.

“We’re giving away T-shirts this year, so that’s also new,” said Stacy Leners, vice president of event organizer Blur Parties. “And we have two new bands: Pioneer played Friday night, and we have the Brad Ramp Band playing tonight. We’re super excited to add both of those bands.”

Entertainers returning to the stage in the park’s pavilion were Beaten Path, DJ Tunes and Ro Hempel. Dance lessons were offered in front of the stage at 6:30 p.m. both days.

Hundreds of guests sampled over 100 wines, craft beers and distilled spirits offered by Nebraska craft breweries, wineries and distilleries. Code Beer Co. and White Elem Brewing Co., both of Lincoln, were among 10 participating craft breweries; and nearby James Arthur Vineyards of Raymond and Junto Wine of Seward were among the nine wineries that offered tastings at the event.

The two-day festival also offered 25-plus artisan and food vendors. Guests joined in educational sessions on a variety of wine, beer and food topics, and Lincoln Yoga Center instructors led classes on the lawn west of the pavilion.
