Susan Kay (Davis) Guenther

September 9, 1965 – November 27, 2018

Susie was born in Lincoln on September 9, 1965. She was the youngest of three children born to Charles and Rosemary (Schreiber) Davis. Susie was a lifetime resident of Lincoln. In 1993 she met the love of her life, Todd Guenther. They married in May of 2000, and together they raised his two sons, Jacob and Joel. Susie worked as an office professional for over 35 years in a variety of industries. She made an impact everywhere she worked, ranging from her first job as a switchboard operator for Pegler and Company, to an executive assistant at BVH Architects, or the facilities management director's assistant at Bryan Hospital. Her final job was an office manager for Manzitto Construction.

Susie loved to bake and bring treats to coworkers. She also loved NFL football and looked forward to playing in her husband's work fantasy league each fall. Traveling was her true passion and she was fortunate that Todd shared her quest for this, as they enjoyed an anniversary trip somewhere every year. Her greatest joy of late was being a Grammy to her three grandchildren: Luna Belle, Sebastian and Jameson, born to Joel and Lauren Guenther. They were the light of her life.

Susie will be remembered for her positive attitude and outlook on life, and her contagious smile. She had been living with Metastatic Ovarian/Peritoneal Cancer for the last 2-1/2 years of her life. Susie did not want to be defined by this in her life, nor her death. She had defeated breast cancer back in 1999, so when this new cancer was diagnosed, she took it in stride and was grateful for the 18 years cancer free she had been living in between. She was always reminding everyone that life is short and to enjoy every moment.

Susie is survived by her husband Todd; son Joel (Lauren) Guenther; daughter-in-law Alex Tomo, siblings Steve (Debra) Davis and Sherry (Ted) Tomes, and many nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Rosemary, and by her oldest son Jacob.

A celebration of Susie's life will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4, at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 1015 Lancaster Lane, Lincoln, NE 68505. Pastor Kimberlee Osborn will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service begins at the church. Susie's wishes were for cremation that will take place following the service. Memorials are suggested to ocrahope.org. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home.
