Steve passed away peacefully at home, rural Carpenter Wyoming. He was second of six children born to Ralph and Elzada Stroman. He was raised on the Stroman farm in Ulysses. He attended Ulysses Grade School and Seward High School until his family moved to a farm near Leigh, and he finished high school at Stanton High School.
He enlisted in the Army (1969-1972) and served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a door gunner and crew chief on assault helicopters with 195 AMC Gun Platoon "Thunder Chickens", 60th AVN Co Assault Helicopters "Ghost Riders" and 92nd Guns "Sidekicks". He received four air medals for "Heroism in Aerial Flight" and one for Military Merit. He retired from Goodyear after 25 years and was a talented gun smith, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Scott. Survived by his wife Cheryl, daughter, Lanielle, grandchildren Andrew, Anthony, Ayden, Seth and Adreanna, brothers, Charles( Chic) (Karen) Stroman, Doug (Susie) Stroman, sisters, Judy (Dwight) Kumm, Marilyn (Bob) Croci, and nephew and nieces.
Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 17, at Firefighter Hall, 241 Victory Lane, Lincoln.
