September 17, 1949 - July 12, 2018.
Bob Pewthers died Thursday, July 12, 2018, in Lincoln. Born September 17, 1949, to Leonard and Betty Rose Pewthers in Stillwater, Oklahoma, he moved to Lincoln when he was 10, graduated from Lincoln Southeast High School in 1967, and received his bachelor's degree in anthropology from UNL. He worked as a train conductor for Burlington Northern Santa Fe, retiring when he was 60.
In retirement, he volunteered his time to trail maintenance in Wilderness Park, and to various projects for the Pioneers Park Nature Center. Bob enjoyed an active life, from wrestling and track in high school, to running, cross country skiing, kayaking, and bicycling for the rest of his life. A great deal of his socializing was done while pedaling a bike or paddling a boat, and he made many friends while exploring the roads, trails, and waterways of Nebraska.
A celebration of Bob's life will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 16, at the Pioneers Park Nature Center, 3201 S Coddington Ave. If you would like to share a story, a memory, or thought of Bob at the memorial, you will have an opportunity to do so.
