Born Sept. 2, 1924, at Verona, N.D., Rita Bachman was the daughter of Edgar and Ethel (McCann) Mailloux. Rita passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. She graduated from Cleveland High School in 1942, near Verona. After graduating from high school in 1942, Rita worked at Port of Embarkation in Seattle during World War II era.
She then came back to North Dakota and married John Bachman on May 29, 1946, at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Verona. The couple moved to Nebraska, where they raised their family. Rita worked for Farm Bureau for six years then at Pierce County Treasurer's Office for 23 years, before retiring in 1989.
She went to The Meadows in 2011. Rita enjoyed reading, golfing, walking, fishing and spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierce and its altar society. She volunteered at Pierce Manor, was a member of Christian Mothers and T.O.P.S.
Survivors include four daughters, Marlene (Jim) Broer of Wayne, Janice (Richard) Krueger of Lincoln, Bonnie (Gene) Fischer of Cherokee, Iowa, and Shirley (Dwane) Pospisil of Lincoln; one son, David (Sue) Bachman of Pierce; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Ethel; five brothers; two sisters and her spouse, John in 2005.
Music for the service will be provided by organist Celine Fehringer and cantors Rick and Cheryl Higgins. Selections will include “On Eagle's Wings,” “Because The Lord Is My Shepherd,” “You Are Mine,” “Ava Maria” and “Blessed Are They.”
Casket bearers will be Michael Bachman, Benjamin Cox, Jeffrey Krueger, Ryan Krueger, Nicholas Fischer, Casey Moeller, Sam Pospisil and Anthony Pospisil. Honorary casket bearers will be her granddaughters: Wendy Mueller, Krista Nicholes, Lacey Moeller and Stephanie Fischer, and her great-grandchildren.
Funeral service for Rita E. Bachman, 94, of Pierce, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 11, 2019, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierce, Father Marc Lim will be officiating the service. Burial will take place at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, rural Pierce. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Sunday, with Rosary starting at 7:00 p.m., all at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierce.
