Waldon N. "Wally" McNaught, 80, of Eagle, passed away June 11, 2014. Born Aug. 7, 1933 in Polk to Neil E. and Lelah I. (Kroger) McNaught. Retired 1993, athletic director, teacher and coach at Lincoln Southeast High School. Also, taught school and coached in Harvard, Crete, and Omaha. A graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University, received his master's degree from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955.
Wally was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Theta Chi fraternity, Nebraska High School Hall of Fame (served as president from 2006-2007), Southeast High School Hall of Fame, National High School Coaches Hall of Fame, Nebraska Wesleyan Sports Hall of Fame, Nebraska High School Athletic Association, and Executive Club. He also was a member and president of various other community organizations.
Family members include his wife, JoAnn; daughter, Linda (Gary) Major; sons, Thomas McNaught and fiancee Cyndi Green, Patrick (Tammy) McNaught; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Bill (Patty) NcNaught; sister-in-law, Jean Lynn; three nieces. Preceded in death by parents; parents-in-law, Lennis and Berniece Lind; and daughter-in-law, Patty McNaught.
Funeral service: 11:30 am Monday (6/16) St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 8550 Pioneers Blvd. with Pastor Wayne Alloway officiating. Burial in Swede Plain Cemetery, Polk. Visitation: 2-8 pm Sunday with family greeting 5-7 at Roper and Sons, 4300 'O' Street and one hour prior to service time at the church.
