Lloyd R. Wehmer passed away at 80 years of age at Big Spring Scenic Mountain Hospital on Wednesday evening, November 28, 2018. He was born August 16, 1938 in Sterling, and was raised on a farm outside of Sterling. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1957. He proudly served his country in the Air Force from May 1960 until May 1964. He married the love of his life, Betty Jo, on September 11, 1965, in Pender. He worked many jobs through the years, but his favorite was the job of husband and father.

Lloyd is survived by three daughters, Patti Ganskow and her husband Mike, of Columbus, Cindy Wehmer of Big Spring, Texas, Cheri Lowes and her husband Steve of Columbus; one son, Rick Wehmer and Jodi Maulden of Hurst, Texas; granddaughters, Vicki Walker of Lincoln, and Emma Ganskow of Wayne; grandsons Ryan Cech of Schuyler, and Dylan Ganskow of Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Carter Cech of David City, Aria Walker and Gavin Walker of Lincoln. Lloyd is also survived by his sister, Erma Hazen of Beatrice, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edna Bartels Wehmer; his wife, Betty Jo; brother, Lawrence Wehmer and brother-in-law, Shannon Hazen.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. May 18, at St. John Lutheran Church of Sterling with Pastor Dennis Reich officiating. Inurnment of the cremains will be in the Sterling Cemetery. A family prayer service will be held at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday at the church. There will be no viewing or visitation. The body has been cremated.
A memorial has been established to the St. John Lutheran Church. Military graveside honors will be conducted by Harm Sangen Post #140 of the American Legion of Sterling. Zink-Fox Funeral Home of Sterling in charge of arrangements www.foxfuneralhome.net.
