Jean K. Diers, of Lincoln, passed away on December 4, 2018, at age 91. She was the only child of Lallie Jane and James Homer Turner of ElDorado, Arkansas, and was born in Memphis, Tennessee. Jean finished her successful creative career at Nebraska Public Television, previously she was vice president and advertising manager of Hovland-Swanson and was with the firm for 21 years.
Jean attended Louisiana State University and New York School of Retailing. Throughout her career she was recognized nationally in the retail advertising industry, received dozens of awards, and was included in several editions of Who's Who of American Women, and International Who's Who of Women. Locally she was active in Lincoln Advertising Federation, and was named Advertising Woman of the Year in 1968.
Preceded in death by three loving husbands: Robert D. Diers, Thomas L. Hornbeck, and Odell A. Kelley. Survived by sons: Ken (MaryAnn) Kelley of Hutchinson, Kan., Jim (Cheryl) Kelley of Edmond, Okla., and Charlie (Darla) Diers of Lincoln, and one daughter; Jan (Jon) Weinberg of Lincoln. Jean is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
