Gerald M. Ginsburg

July 7th, 1932 - April 12, 2019

Gerald M. Ginsburg, pianist and composer, passed away in New York City on April 12, 2019. Born in Lincoln, on July 7th, 1932, Gerry was a prolific composer who set hundreds of poems to music in his fifty years of artistic output.

He originated a style of song he called Theater Lieder, which brought together the lyrical elements of musical theater and classical art song structure. His compositions have been performed at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, the New School, and the Kennedy Center, among many other venues.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rebecca and Herman Ginsburg, and cousins Ronald Rosenberg and Susan Rosenberg. He is survived by cousins Norman L. Rosenberg, Joan Becker, and Iris Wigal.

There will be a public graveside service Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Lincoln. condolences at www.bmlfh.com.
