Frances Lee (Johnson) Knosp, age 93, of Lenexa, Kan., (formerly of Lincoln) passed away March 31, 2019. Born August 15, 1925 in Macon, Mo. Parents: LeClaire and Matilda (Campion) Johnson. Frances was a graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University where she was a member of Willard Sorority. She attended Bryan Hospital School of Nursing. Upon graduation from Bryan School of Nursing, she was the nurse and x-ray technician for The Physician's Clinic in Downtown Omaha while her husband, Glen, attended medical school at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Frances married Dr. Glen Knosp on September 1, 1947 at Calvary EUB Church in Lincoln. She was a member and deacon of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Lincoln. She was involved with Stephen's Ministry, Westminster Club and was a long-time instructor of the Westminster Adult Bible Class.
Frances belonged to numerous clubs and organizations including: Chapter DN, P.E.O., Past Worthy Matron of Ideal Chapter #181085, O.E.S. and past grand supervisor, O.E.S., Benedictine Oblate, Quizzers, Outlook Study Club, Lincoln Symphony Guild, Lancaster County Medical Alliance, Thursday Morning Lecture Circle, St. Elizabeth Auxiliary Board, Nebraska Literary Heritage Association, Wednesday Book Study Club, past president of The Daughters of the Nile, life member of the Bess Streeter Aldrich Foundation, University Place Art Center, and the Nebraska State Foster Care Board.
Family members include her daughters Mary Catherine Knosp and Carolyn Knosp of Overland Park, Kan., and Cynthia (Donald) Miltner of Lincoln, grandson Nicholas Knosp of Overland Park, Kan.; sisters-in-law Phyllis Knosp of Lincoln, and Rose Knosp of The Villages, Fla. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dr. Glen Knosp; two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation with family will be held in the Fellowship Hall at the St. Paul United Methodist Church, Elmwood, on Thursday, May 23, 2019, from 6:30 to 8 pm. Her memorial service will be held on Friday, May 24, 2019, at 1 pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2110 Sheridan Blvd., Lincoln, with Rev. Dr. Jimmy Shelbourn officiating. Chapter DN, P.E.O. will conduct the P.E.O. Memorial Service. Luncheon to follow the service at the church. Private burial of ashes at the Elmwood Cemetery on May 25, 2019.
