September 19, 1936 - April 5, 2018
Dwight D Boesiger, 81, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed from this life doing what he loved; flying. Born September 19, 1936, to Elmer and Bernice Boesiger, Dwight grew up outside of Cortland. He attended the University of Nebraska where he received his BS and MS in chemical engineering. In 1961, he married Margaret Ann Schwentker of Ogallala. Dwight's love of learning led the newly-wed couple to Iowa State University where he received his Ph.D. in 1967. Afterwards, Dwight joined Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, Okla., where he worked until retirement in 1993.
Dwight took up his second occupation as a flight instructor. Teaching others to fly was a big thrill; and nothing made him happier than seeing his students become proficient pilots. If not at the airport flying, he was capturing photos, or handcrafting wood pieces to gift to family and friends throughout the community. He led a life well-lived and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sons; Mark and Sean, and brother; Wendell Boesiger. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years; Margaret, daughters; Michelle Reimer (Tom) Coppell, Texas, and Amy Kerr (Brandon) and grandsons; Robert Tyler and Bo David Cypress, Texas.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Bartlesville Community Foundation memo “D.D. Boesiger Memorial” at 208 East 4th Street, Bartlesville, OK 74003 or by calling 918-337-2287.
