May 9, 1925 - June 12, 2019

Duane (Bud) Miller passed away peacefully on June 12th, 2019 in Virginia Beach, Va. Born May 9th, 1925 in Stanton, Nebraska, Bud joined the U.S. Navy following high school in 1943. He served on the USS Kalinin Bay (CVE 68) in the Battle of Leyte Gulf off the Philippines and left the Navy at the end of World War II as a RD3.

He received his Bachelors from Wayne State and Masters from the University of Nebraska. Bud taught instrumental music at various schools in Nebraska for 39 years before retiring in 1987 from Millard Lefler in Lincoln. He was selected to the Nebraska Music Educators Association Hall of Fame in 1993. Many of his students went on to successful professional music careers and remained in contact with him.Bud was a loving Husband, Father and Grandfather who will be missed for his advice and love of Husker Football.

He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy (Dickerson) Miller. He is survived by his children Clint Miller (Karla) Colorado, Randy Miller California, LuAnn Steinwart (Rod) Nebraska, Sue Padgett (Richard) Virginia, Don Miller (Daphane) Virginia, 10 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren and his Pomeranian, Blue.

A celebration of life will be scheduled later this year in Lincoln. Condolences may be sent to millerdbm1@cox.net.
