Estes Park, Colo., resident Carolyn Holmquist died in Phoenix, Ariz., on November 14, 2017, after a brief illness. She was 80 years old. Carolyn Carter was born Christmas Day, 1936, in Lincoln. Her parents were Earl and Florence (Becker) Carter. Carolyn graduated from the University of Nebraska Teacher's College where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. On June 14, 1958, she married August “Jack” Holmquist in Lincoln. Carolyn was a board member of Central Community College in Columbus and enjoyed reading, quilting and keeping up with the grandkids' activities. In Estes Park, she was a member of Quota Club, and she and Jack owned Dad's Laundry for 25 years.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Mary Jerry Carter of Lincoln, sister Louise Carter Ganz of Lincoln and daughter Mollie Holmquist of Estes Park. She is survived by Jack of Estes Park, daughters Heidi (Tim) Kuster of Estes Park, Suzi (Max) Sperry of Phoenix, and Carrie (Mike) West of Pueblo, Colo.; grandchildren Sam (Demi) Kuster, Kelsi and Mollie Sperry and Jordan, Shelby and Gracie West. She is also survived by her sister Jayne Gotschall of Atkinson.
