Evelyn M. Beason, 77, of Lincoln died Dec. 2, 2015, at Bryan Medical Center-West in Lincoln. Evelyn was born July 29, 1938, in Fremont County Iowa to Chester and Jessie (Webster) Mattice. Evelyn was united in marriage to Kenneth G. Beason on Sept. 8, 1956, at the Presbyterian Church in Sidney, Iowa, honored by the presences of family Jessie Mattice, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Beason, and Pauline Moyer. Reception followed at the farm of her new brother and sister in-law, Stanley and Pauline Moyer of rural Hamburg, Iowa.
Evelyn was a hard worker, working 13 years at Metro Mail of Lincoln before the company changed ownership, then Ameritas where she began as a machine operator, then earned promotions to supply clerk, then supervisor of supply, followed by mail/supply coordinator, and finally held the title of corporate operations assistant in corporate communications. She retired after 42 years of service to the company. While working full-time for Ameritas, she also worked part-time for Molex, Inc. of Lincoln for 24 years as a machine operator. Evelyn enjoyed working in the yard and her garden in her spare time. She loved her tomatoes, and her grandchildren also enjoyed gardening with her. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of over 59 years, Kenneth G. Beason of Lincoln; daughter, Jan Fogleman of Fairbury; granddaughter, April Fogleman-Fisher (Jon) of Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Jovon, Zachery, Tobias, Seraphina "Lily"; step-great-grandchildren, Alena and Sawyer, all of Lincoln; brother, Chester Jr. and wife Gloria Mattice of Hamburg; sisters, Joanne (Roger) Massengale of Nebraska City, Karen (Don) Martinache of Monroe, Iowa, Linda "Joy" (Larry) Owens of Nebraska City; many nieces and nephews, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jessie "Roy" Mattice, and Robert; sister, Alice Mattice.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, at Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street, Lincoln 68510. Interment will follow in the Yankee Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. on Saturday until the time of service at the funeral home. A reception will follow the committal at the funeral home.
