The Journal Star is looking for a Digital News/Assistant City Editor with a passion for engaging digital readers and helping journalists tell stories that resonate online and in print.
We’re looking for a talented journalist to coach staffers to think in new ways, break news quickly, use analytics and new technology to keep our digital offerings fresh and lead enterprise projects.
We need someone who can motivate reporters as a strong mentor and function as part of a team including other editors, reporters, photographers and the online desk. Though not a primary concern, the strongest candidates will also see opportunities to drive revenue as well as audience through digital innovation.
A growing capital city, Lincoln has strong K-12 schools, a Big Ten university and cultural and recreational options. It is consistently ranked among the nation’s best places to live — literate, affordable and progressive.
The Journal Star offers an excellent benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, a 401(k) plan and paid time off. All applicants considered for employment must pass a post-offer drug screen and background check.
Applicants must apply online at www.journalstar.com/workhere. An attached resume and cover letter are required. Email city editor Todd Henrichs at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. We will begin reviewing applications on March 15.
