Here's Jane Kleeb's personal view of Dick Holland:
"He cares about kids, education, environment, fairness and political balance -- which in our state is quite frankly out of whack, which means one voice dominates all issues.
"Whether it's education of urban kids in Omaha or re-routing the pipeline out of the Sandhills or investing in the supercomputer at the Kiewit Institute, he gives to projects and people he believes will do great things.
"Dick enables Nebraskans to do good, to dream, to build our communities and to have a voice in our body politic.
"He has achieved so much in life, he loves birds, and he loves his wife. You cannot sit with him for more than five minutes when both birds and his wife come up.
"When we visit, we laugh. He tells me stories of growing up, and he tells me how disappointed he is in mean politicians. He believes in engaging folks in politics, believes in kids he never met, believes in musicians with hopes they make it big.
"He believes in the goodness and strength of Nebraskans. And he hates mean politicians who turn their backs on all of those things."
