Capital City Kiwanis Club representatives presented an annual donation of $4,000 to the Lincoln Food Bank on Dec. 21 in support of its child hunger programs.
"The Food Bank is humbled by the generosity of the Capital City Kiwanis Club — and other chapters across Lincoln — who continually find ways to support hungry children in our community," said Scott Young, Lincoln Food Bank executive director.
Marilynn Schnepf, Capital City Kiwanis Club president, added: “Food is a foundation, a basic need. When children are hungry, how can we expect them to learn and grow properly? As a club, the Capital City Kiwanians are proud to continue our strong tradition of supporting the Food Bank’s child hunger programs by donating to the BackPack Program. As a retired person who worked in the food and nutrition sciences profession, I firmly believe this support has tremendous value.”
The donation is enough to ensure that 16 children will have a weekly food-filled backpack to take home as part of the Food Bank’s BackPack Program.
