More than 400 people, most with leashed dogs and lawn chairs or blankets, attended Lincoln Animal Ambassadors’ 10th annual Wine & Howl fundraiser Saturday, June 2, at Deer Springs Winery, 162nd and Adams streets. The event raised $6,000 for Lincoln Animal Ambassadors, which operates a low-cost spay/neuter program and an income-based pet food bank.
Wine & Howl featured live music by Johnny Johnson from Columbus and OutLoud from Lincoln, both of whom donated their time and talents to the event and were well-received by listeners; 23 vendor exhibits, including 17 nonprofit/rescue groups; 86 raffle prizes; Rescue Roundups of adoptable dogs; food catered by Hy-Vee, including vegetarian choices; and, of course, wine.
"LAA is so appreciative of the community support that we experience," said Mary Douglas, president of Lincoln Animal Ambassadors. "With that support comes the knowledge that others in the community understand our goal and beliefs, and their support makes everything we do possible."
