Approximately 1,100 guests began the Christmas season Nov. 29-30 at Heritage League’s 46th Holiday of Trees at Westminster Presbyterian Church, viewing 20 beautiful trees uniquely decorated by community members and organizations.

The event raised about $9,500, and some of the proceeds will benefit the OVER (Operation Veterans Encouraging Recovery) House, said Janet Domeier, event co-chair.

“Over the past 46 years, Heritage League has donated around $275,000 to local organizations,” Domeier said.

Holiday of Trees also included local musicians, Santa and Mrs. Claus, expanded Attic Treasures, a pantry of homemade food items, raffle prizes and a café.

In addition to Heritage League volunteers, Domeier recognized volunteer help from the Sigma Chi fraternity and the College Hunk Movers.

“The fraternity was a tremendous help with setting up and especially packing up and cleaning up after the event,” she said. “The College Hunk movers donated their time to haul a large truckload of donated items to the Attic Treasures on Wednesday morning before the event.”
