May 29 – Empty Bowls
At this 16th annual luncheon, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Embassy Suites, 1040 P St., guests sample from multiple soups prepared by local restaurants and one nonprofit agency. Guests also select and take home a bowl handcrafted by Down Under Pottery. Watch for local celebrity servers! Proceeds benefit the Food Bank of Lincoln. Details: lincolnfoodbank.org or 402-466-8170.
May 31 – Give to Lincoln Day
For 24 hours on Give to Lincoln Day, every donation given to local nonprofits is made bigger by a record $400,000 pool of matching funds. Choose from more than 400 local nonprofits that serve the community. Donations can be made before May 31 at www.GiveToLincoln.com. On the day of the event, visit Lincoln Community Foundation’s Tower Square, 13th and P streets, where nearly 70 organizations will provide hands-on activities, demonstrations and information about their programs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The Lightning Bugs will perform live at noon. Those who prefer not to give online can donate in person May 31 at the Tower Square event or at the Lincoln Community Foundation office, 215 Centennial Mall South, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; or at West Gate Bank, 6003 Old Cheney Road, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
June 1 – Gateway Sertoma Golf Tournament
This four-person golf scramble features games, hole prizes, food and drink, 12:30 p.m. shotgun start, HiMark Golf Course, 8901 Augusta Drive. Sponsorships and teams will benefit Tabitha Meals on Wheels, Lincoln’s first and only at-home meal program for seniors. Register your team at Tabitha.org/golf.
June 2 – Wine & Howl
Lincoln Animal Ambassadors’ 10th annual Wine & Howl fundraiser features wine tasting, food, live music, vendor exhibits, gift raffles, Rescue Roundups of adoptable dogs throughout the day and more, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Deer Springs Winery, 162nd and Adams streets. Leashed dogs welcome; bring a blanket or lawn chair. Suggested donation $8/person. Details: lincolnanimalambassadors.org or 402-817-1168.
