Lincoln Center Kiwanis Club's annual Distinguished Service Award luncheon, a nearly annual tradition since 1922, honored TMCO founder Roland Temme during Sept. 7 recognition ceremonies at the Nebraska Club. Dayle Williamson, the club's assistant secretary, provided this photo from 1931 at which soldier-educator General John J. Pershing became the award's 10th recipient. Williamson said the 1931 event was apparently held in the ballroom of the Chamber building above the current downtown Misty's at 11th and P streets. Since 1922, the Distinguished Service Award has been presented annually except in 1941 and 1949. Photos of this year's event honoring Temme will appear Oct. 25 in the November L Magazine.
