Give to Lincoln Day on May 31 raised a record $4,613,411.73 – more than $920,000 over the previous record set last year.
The funds were designated to help support 404 local nonprofits that serve Lincoln and Lancaster County. All participating nonprofits will receive a proportional share of a $400,000 match fund provided by Lincoln Community Foundation and other sponsors, based on the organization’s percentage of the total dollars raised.
“Our generous community spirit was spectacular,” said Barbara Bartle, president of the Lincoln Community Foundation. “Thanks to thousands of donors, the match fund sponsors and the local media partners, our local charitable organizations have funding they need to continue their impactful work in our community.”
Nearly 20,000 individual donations were received for the 2018 Give to Lincoln Day, an increase of almost 3,000 from the previous year.
“Since Give to Lincoln Day began in 2012, donors have contributed more than $20 million to our nonprofits,” said Bartle. “We are so grateful to the caring Lincoln citizens who show the meaning of philanthropy on this remarkable day of giving. We passed the hat, and Lincoln opened its giant heart.”
