Friendship Force of Lincoln has been appointed by Friendship Force International to host a leadership training for individuals planning to organize a Friendship Force club in their community.
Individuals considering developing clubs are arriving from Tanzania, Russia, Philippines, Canada, Texas and Washington State Oct. 12-17. Guests are hosted in homes of local Friendship Force members.
Local club members will explain best practices for preparing club members for living in a home that may be totally different from theirs, and where their host may speak a different language. Suggestions will be made for hosting foreign visitors and planning activities for their week-long visit.
Dave Kalen, from the international organization, will be in Lincoln to explain the central office services, including supporting over 350 clubs with various languages and customs. He will also explain how over 300 clubs are matched each year.
In addition, there are over 30 global and special interest journeys and cruises. In 2018, the Lincoln club hosted a special interest journey to see the Sandhill cranes. Visitors from California, Georgia, Iowa, Missouri, North Carolina, Kentucky, Oregon and Texas attended.
