Drew Curtright

Jeweler Drew Curtright shows off work in her case at the Noyes Art Gallery.

In June, Noyes Art Gallery, 119 S. Ninth Street, will present two unique events.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, June 9, Noyes will host Jewelry in June, an outdoor jewelry gallery. Noyes jewelers Hope McCulley, Nicki Nix, Karen Griffin, Lynette Fast and Drew Curtright will set up shop outside the gallery to display new work. These artists work with diverse materials from metals to beads to stones and represent a wide range of visions.

Then on Friday, June 15, Noyes Gallery, in partnership with the Midwestern African Museum of Art (MAMA), will present Africa Night. Enjoy a taste of African culture as you’re greeted and served drinks by someone in African clothing. The food table, covered with African fabric, will include African treats and the usual cookies and snacks. Seth Mock, director of MAMA, will be available to sell bags of Ethiopian coffee and let you taste before you buy.

Additionally, view art to the sound of African music, and the Focus Gallery will include at least two artists displaying African art.

Eight Noyes artists will bring in new work for this event: Beth Gardner (paintings), Hope McCulley (jewelry), Sharon Sykes (steampunk creations), Karen Griffin (jewelry), Ruth Langan (paintings), Marilyn Schulter (textiles), Ronnie Reid (digital photography) and Susan Ranta (photography).
