Noyes Art Gallery will celebrate the holidays with two mid-December events, plus expanded hours in December.
First, from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, the artists showing in the Focus Gallery will host a Second Saturday opening. This show includes unique work of diverse media and styles, such as Kevin Baker’s natural wood sculptures. Shown in the photo with his work, Baker mines his materials to reveal the images within in a unique collaboration.
Other artists in the show include Peggy Alloway (mixed media & wearables), Steve Baxter (wood relief sculptures), Lesley Darling (locally sourced woolens), Janna Harsch (paintings on metal), Layne Mills (oil paintings), Steve O’Hare (photography) and Amanda Sweet (literary jewelry).
Then from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, Noyes Art Gallery will host a Third Friday opening celebrating the gallery’s 25th anniversary with a Creativity Contest using black-and-white postcards to create new works of art. Artists will submit and display entries in the Gold Room with winners to be announced.
Additionally that night, new work from six Noyes artists will feature Middle-Eastern influences. These artists include: Amber Roland (paintings) Ambur Harvey (paintings) Dave Galois (mixed media), Karen Bowling (digital art), Karen Griffin (jewelry) and Drew Curtright (jewelry). As part of this Middle Eastern theme, belly dancing troupe Troupe Sicorae of 9 Muses Studio will perform. Professional singer, guitarist and songwriter Teri Orr will also perform live.
Noyes, a cooperative art gallery, displays work by more than 60 artists at 119 S. Ninth St.
