Artists are encouraged to submit up to five proposals for the Nebraska State Capitol's holiday tree ornament design competition.
DESIGN CONCEPTS – Related to Nebraska using traditional, contemporary or abstract ideas. Themes can focus on the state's diverse natural, cultural and agricultural heritage; the state's vibrant history; a public place or location with historic or cultural significance; or a depiction of Nebraska today.
PROPOSAL SIZE – 8 ½ by 11-inch paper with a line drawing in the shape of Nebraska.
PROPOSALS DUE – Aug. 14 mailed or hand-delivered to Project Director, 2700 Sheridan Blvd., Lincoln, NE 68502.
ORNAMENTS – 10 ¾ by 5 1/8-inch white fiberglass with a depth of ¼ inch in the shape of Nebraska. Artists will receive the white fiberglass ornaments in August, shortly after the jurying process. Completed ornaments are due Nov. 1. Designs only need to be created on one side of each ornament.
ARTISTS’ RECEPTION – Nov. 8 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Governor’s Mansion, hosted by First Lady Susanne Shore.
PUBLIC RECEPTION – Dec. 2 from 1-5 p.m. in the Nebraska State Capitol’s rotunda to showcase the ornaments and recognize the artists.
